KARACHI: Police have made progress in the investigation into the death of Mir Raza Ali, a resident of the PECHS area of Karachi, with investigators discovering that he was reportedly indebted to several people.
According to investigative sources, an initial medical report showed that Mir Raza sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators are also examining the possibility that the bullet may have entered from behind.
Preliminary findings suggest that Mir Raza had taken a security guard’s weapon before his death. His body was later discovered after a nearby nursery worker alerted authorities.
Investigators have also found information indicating that suspicious motorcycle riders were present near the location where the body was recovered. Authorities are examining whether their presence was connected to the incident.
Sources said Mir Raza was carrying around Rs40,000 shortly before his death, while he had taken Rs1,000 with him when leaving his home.
Investigators said he had left his smartwatch, wallet and vehicle at home, adding to questions surrounding the circumstances of his death.
The inquiry has also revealed that Mir Raza was reportedly indebted to several individuals. Investigators are examining his financial dealings and personal contacts as part of efforts to establish a possible motive.
The weapon allegedly taken by Mir Raza and the bullet casing have not yet been recovered, according to investigative sources.
More than 15 people have so far had their statements recorded in connection with the investigation. Authorities are awaiting the detailed medical report, which is expected to be received today, while the forensic report of Mir Raza’s mobile phone is expected within one to two days.
Investigators said the case remained under active investigation and further details would emerge after the forensic and medical findings are reviewed.
