HATTIAN BALA, Azad Jammu and Kashmir: Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has criticised those questioning Pakistan’s political system, saying they had managed to complete what he described as a 30-year political journey within three and a half years but were now claiming that the system was incapable of functioning.
Addressing a public gathering in Hattian Bala, Rana Sanaullah, without naming the federal interior minister, questioned where his political opponents had started and where they had reached before concluding that the system could not work.
He said the parliamentary democratic system was the system given to the country by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and should not be dismissed as unworkable.
Responding to allegations made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PML-N leader questioned claims that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had come to power through what he referred to as “Form 47”.
He said that if the votes secured by the prime minister were being described as Form 47 votes, then the same question should be asked about the votes received by the president.
In a separate statement, Rana Sanaullah expressed deep sorrow over the recent accident involving international mountaineers on Broad Peak, saying Pakistan shared the grief of the people of Nepal.
He said the expedition team comprised 10 international mountaineers, including six Nepali climbers, while other members were citizens of Pakistan, the United States, China and Oman.
Rana Sanaullah said the government had prioritised search and rescue operations immediately after the Broad Peak accident. So far, four bodies have been recovered, including that of Nepali mountaineer Pur Bahadur Gurung.
He said the search for missing climbers was continuing despite extremely difficult weather and challenging terrain. Pakistan, he added, would continue providing every possible assistance until the search operation was completed and would use all available resources to locate the missing mountaineers.
