As Washington and Tel Aviv intensified their joint military pressure on Tehran, the world’s gaze turned instinctively towards Iran’s most powerful partners. Questions abounded: why had Russia and China, both deeply invested in the region, confined themselves largely to verbal condemnations rather than decisive action? On the surface, the answers seemed simple. Moscow and Beijing had protested, but they had stopped short of any tangible military or coercive engagement. Yet beneath this apparent inaction lay a complex calculus, one shaped not merely by geopolitical loyalty but by a careful assessment of risk, capability, and long-term strategy. Moscow’s response was swift…
By Dr. Zawwar Hussain Pakistan’s launch of Operation Ghazab lil Haq is far more than a mere military maneuver. It is a statement of sovereign resolve, a reaffirmation that national integrity, territorial security, and internal stability are not negotiable commodities in a world shaped by the shifting whims of global power. When a nation rises to defend its people and its borders, it does more than mobilize troops; it mobilizes conscience, conviction, and collective will. In such defining moments, the character of a nation is tested. Does it fracture under pressure, or does it harden, like tempered steel, through unity…
By Asghar Ali Mubarak Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding Chinese citizens, investments, and institutions, signaling the country’s determination to provide a secure environment for the ambitious China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Launched as part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, CPEC has become a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economic planning, with the potential to transform the nation’s infrastructure, energy sector, and regional connectivity. The corridor, stretching across the country, is far more than a series of highways, railways, and power plants. It represents a framework for deepened cooperation between China and Pakistan, bringing together economic, trade, industrial,…
By Sudhir Ahmed Afridi The Middle East awoke to another shock when Iranian state media confirmed the death of Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader whose authority had defined the Islamic Republic for more than three decades. Born in 1939 in Mashhad, Khamenei lived to the age of 86, spending a lifetime steeped in religious scholarship, revolutionary struggle, and the stewardship of a state forged amid turmoil. Within hours of the announcement, streets in Iran, Iraq, and beyond were filled with mourners. Black flags flew from rooftops, processions wound through cities, and pledges of loyalty mingled with tears and vows…
By Shakeel Hussain In World Order, Henry Kissinger observes that great powers seek to preserve dominance by shaping—or sometimes weakening—rival states. Diplomatic pressure, economic sanctions, alliances, intelligence operations, and military force are all tools in their arsenal. Yet history shows these strategies often fall short. Instead of subduing opponents, they can provoke resistance, stir nationalism, and entrench long-term rivalry. Few cases illustrate this more vividly than the enduring confrontation between the United States and Iran. Before 1979, Iran was Washington’s closest ally in the Middle East under Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The U.S. relied on Tehran as a pillar of regional…
