ISLAMABAD: As part of its Freedom 250 lecture series, the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad hosted Donna Carpenter, co-founder and chair of the board of Burton Snowboards, along with Pakistani athlete Samar Khan, alumna of the ESPNW Global Sports Mentoring Program, to highlight the role of sports in entrepreneurship, youth development, and innovation.

The event, held on 28 January at the new United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan headquarters, brought together sports professionals, young athletes, and business leaders. Carpenter and Khan emphasized that sports nurture leadership, teamwork, resilience, and community engagement, providing opportunities for young people to drive positive change locally and globally.
Andy Halus, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Embassy, said: “Pakistan has a young, energetic population with untapped potential in sports and entrepreneurship. By connecting with students, athletes, and professionals, we explore ways sports can empower communities, foster innovation, and strengthen U.S.-Pakistan partnerships.”
The Freedom 250 lecture series engages the Pakistani public through talks by U.S.-sponsored exchange alumni, American business leaders, and other experts, celebrating 250 years of American independence while fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and lasting partnerships.
