ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and several other Muslim and Arab countries have warned that Israel’s repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire pose a serious risk to regional peace and stability.
In a statement, the foreign office said Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Qatar — founding members of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace — had condemned Israel’s repeated breaches of the ceasefire. The violations, it said, had resulted in the killing and injury of more than a thousand Palestinians.
Israel launched some of its deadliest airstrikes since the October ceasefire on Saturday, pounding Gaza and killing more than 30 people. Among the dead were three girls from the same family. The attacks struck homes, tents and a police station.
Hamas, which retains control of just under half of Gaza, said Israel had violated the truce. Nearly all of Gaza’s more than two million residents are living in makeshift shelters and damaged buildings. Hamas did not say whether any of its members or sites were hit in the strikes.
It added that the violations were taking place at a time when regional and international actors were working collectively to advance the second phase of President Trump’s peace plan and to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
The statement reaffirmed support for a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood, in line with international law, relevant UN security council resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
