ISLAMABAD: Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed across Pakistan on Thursday, with events held to express support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
The annual observance aims to draw the attention of the international community to ongoing human rights violations and alleged atrocities in the region, highlighting the long-standing humanitarian and political crisis. Across Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir, solidarity walks, seminars, and exhibitions were organized to commemorate the day.
Participants carried banners, flags, and placards, calling for global recognition of the Kashmiri people’s aspirations. Officials and civil society representatives emphasized that the day was not merely symbolic, but a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri cause.
At ten in the morning, a minute of silence was observed nationwide to pay homage to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement. The act was widely covered in cities from Karachi to Muzaffarabad, reflecting both the public and governmental commitment to keeping the issue in the international spotlight.
In Islamabad, public and political gatherings highlighted the importance of peaceful advocacy and international engagement, while reiterating that the struggle of Kashmiris for self-determination remains unresolved despite decades of global attention. Analysts noted that such annual observances serve both to remind the world of ongoing tensions in the region and to reinforce Pakistan’s domestic and international narrative regarding Kashmir.
