ISLAMABAD: Security forces reported significant gains in their ongoing campaign against the Afghan Taliban, with 435 insurgents killed and more than 630 others wounded, according to updates from the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar.
The operation, named Ghazab lil-Haq, has so far destroyed 188 Taliban check posts, while a further 31 were seized by Pakistani forces, demonstrating the scale and intensity of the offensive. Officials said 188 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery guns were also destroyed during the operation, crippling much of the Taliban’s military infrastructure.
Air strikes targeted 51 locations across Afghanistan, further weakening the insurgents’ operational capabilities. The coordinated effort combined ground assaults and aerial bombardments, reflecting a concerted push to dismantle entrenched Taliban positions and assert control over contested areas.
Minister Tarar highlighted the scale of the campaign in a post on his X account, describing the operation as a crucial step in securing the region from the threat of terrorism. Security analysts noted that the losses inflicted on Taliban forces represented one of the most extensive blows to the insurgent group in recent months, though concerns remain over the resilience of Taliban networks and the potential for retaliatory attacks.
The operation has drawn attention to Pakistan’s determination to maintain security along its borders and disrupt militant activity emanating from Afghan territory. While officials celebrated the tactical successes, they acknowledged that sustained efforts and continued vigilance would be essential to ensure long-term stability and prevent the insurgents from regrouping.
