ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region and beyond during a meeting with China’s ambassador in Islamabad on Monday, as diplomatic channels remained active against the backdrop of a shifting regional landscape.
Dar held talks with the Chinese envoy, Jiang Zaidong, at a time when tensions across parts of the Middle East and South Asia had placed renewed emphasis on strategic coordination between longstanding partners. According to officials familiar with the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and broader geopolitical developments, reflecting shared concerns over instability and its potential spillover effects.
In his remarks, Dar underscored Pakistan’s consistent position that dialogue and diplomacy remained the most effective tools for addressing disputes. He stressed the importance of sustained engagement and continued consultations, particularly among countries with close bilateral ties, to prevent escalation and promote collective security. The deputy prime minister reiterated that Pakistan sought constructive relations not only within its immediate neighborhood but also on the wider international stage.
The meeting also highlighted the enduring strategic partnership between Islamabad and Beijing, which has often been described by both sides as resilient and time-tested. Officials said both parties agreed on the need to maintain close coordination in the face of fast-moving regional developments. While no formal statement outlining specific policy shifts was issued, the tone of the discussion signaled a shared desire to manage emerging challenges through consultation rather than confrontation.
