KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to help bring about a ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
In a post on social media, he praised Pakistan’s timely and constructive offer to host talks, saying the initiative reflected a responsible approach to regional peace.
He said efforts by Pakistan and other regional leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to resolve the conflict were commendable.

He added that Pakistan’s diplomatic ties with the relevant parties placed it in a strong position to facilitate meaningful dialogue.
Anwar stressed that any negotiations should not result in temporary gains, but instead lead to a lasting and sustainable solution for the region. He also reaffirmed Malaysia’s support for Iran’s right to defend its sovereignty under international law.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to end the Iran–US tensions are ongoing. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during which he briefed him on Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic outreach.
The prime minister stressed the urgent need to end the conflict for regional stability and condemned recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, assuring that Pakistan would always stand with the Kingdom.The Saudi Crown Prince reportedly appreciated Pakistan’s peace efforts.Earlier, senior Iranian sources were cited by a British news agency as saying that Pakistan had passed on a US proposal to Iran.

However, details of the proposal were not disclosed.Sources also indicated that the location for potential Iran–US talks has not yet been decided, with Turkey and Pakistan being considered as possible hosts.
