KARACHI: A former Inspector General of Sindh has been summoned by an anti-corruption court in Karachi in connection with an alleged embezzlement of police funds amounting to Rs1.5 billion.
The Anti-Corruption Court in Sindh heard proceedings on a case involving alleged misuse of police funds, where former Inspector General of Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali and other senior police officers have been named as accused. The court fixed 9 July for their personal appearance.
During the hearing, the investigating officer submitted a supplementary charge sheet linked to an earlier National Accountability Bureau reference, marking a key development in the case. Following this, the court issued notices to all nominated accused.
Among those summoned are Senior Superintendent of Police Faisal Bashir Memon, SSP Fida Shah, and others, all directed to appear in person at the next hearing.
According to court officials, there is a possibility that supplementary charges may be formally framed during the upcoming session. The prosecution alleges that more than Rs1.5 billion was embezzled from police funds.
The case was previously under the jurisdiction of the National Accountability Bureau, where a reference had also been filed. However, after amendments to accountability laws, the matter was transferred to the anti-corruption establishment, where proceedings are now continuing.
At the next hearing, the court is expected to review the supplementary charge sheet and proceed with steps related to attendance and the framing of charges.
