DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A ceremony was held at Agricultural University Dera Ismail Khan to mark Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq and the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, in what officials described as an event held with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
The programme was organised on the directives of Vice Chancellor Dr Latif Gondal. Faculty members, administrative officers and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
The chief guest on the occasion was Vice Chancellor of Qurtuba University of Science and Technology campus Professor Dr Khair-uz-Zaman, while the guest of honour was Pro Vice Chancellor of Gomal University Professor Dr Naimatullah Babar. Registrar Abdul Basit Khan, Controller of Examinations Irfan Khan, Director Finance Aram Gul and other officials also attended.
The event began with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a main session held in the university’s multipurpose hall where speakers highlighted the importance of the day.
Speaking at the gathering, Dr Khair-uz-Zaman said Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos reflected national unity, sacrifice and renewed determination. He said the Pakistani nation had consistently shown unity in difficult times, which remained its greatest strength.
He urged students to use their abilities positively and contribute to the country’s development, stability and prosperity, adding that educational institutions played an important role not only in education but also in character building and national awareness.
Dr Naimatullah Babar highlighted the role of universities in strengthening the intellectual foundations of nations and said such events helped promote patriotism among students.
Registrar Abdul Basit Khan said the purpose of the ceremony was to remember national history, sacrifices and responsibilities. He said the event aimed to promote unity, national awareness and patriotism among students and faculty.
He added that Agricultural University Dera Ismail Khan was focused not only on quality education but also on character building and national training through such programmes. He stressed that the sacrifices of martyrs should not be forgotten as they ensured the country’s freedom and sovereignty.
The ceremony concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to the country’s safety, progress and stability. Tributes were paid to martyrs and special prayers were offered for national security. Shields were also presented to the chief guest and guest of honour.
