SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: All Political Alliance in Upper South Waziristan has announced a protest campaign against what it described as unnecessary harassment and difficulties faced by the public at various security check posts in the region.
Maulana Saleh Shah, speaking at a press conference at the Mehsud Press Club, said ordinary citizens were being subjected to repeated checking and questioning in the name of entry registration, which he said had made daily life increasingly difficult for residents.
Maulana said that despite completing entry procedures at Khargai, travellers were again being forced to register at other check posts, which he described as a sign of administrative mismanagement and poor governance.
Maulana Saleh Shah added that patients, women, children and other travellers were frequently stopped and questioned, causing mental stress and inconvenience to the public. He also said the closure of the road in the Badr area had created severe difficulties for families travelling in extreme heat.
He demanded the immediate reopening of the road and the removal of unnecessary restrictions to facilitate public movement.
He further said leaders of the All Political Alliance Upper South Waziristan had sought a meeting with the IG FC to discuss the region’s issues, but they had not yet been granted an appointment. He said the political leadership was seeking dialogue solely to resolve public problems and not for personal interests or privileges.
During the press conference, the alliance announced that a large peaceful protest gathering would be held on June 5 in Sararogha to highlight public concerns, including alleged harassment at check posts, road closures and other civic issues faced by residents.
The event was also attended by Shah Faisal Ghazi and representatives of various political parties, who pledged to continue their joint struggle for the resolution of the region’s problems.
