TANDO ALLAHYAR: A detailed and comprehensive security plan has been finalised across the district from the 7th to the 10th of Muharram to ensure peaceful observance of religious gatherings and processions.
During Muharram-ul-Haram, a total of 446 majalis, 99 condolence processions and six Sunni tazias are scheduled to take place across the district. Authorities said all necessary arrangements had been completed to ensure foolproof security during the period.
A total of 1,776 officers and personnel, including nine DSPs from Tando Allahyar Police, will be deployed for security duties. Personnel from the Rangers, Special Branch and other law enforcement agencies will also take part in maintaining security arrangements.
A dedicated control room has been set up for Muharram, while a reserve platoon has also been formed to respond immediately to any emergency or unexpected situation. Officials said the setup was aimed at ensuring a swift and coordinated response if required.
For effective monitoring, 45 CCTV cameras have been installed at key points covering main processions and sensitive locations. In addition, more than 200 extra personnel have been deployed to secure sensitive majalis and processions within the jurisdiction of Umar Sanad Police Station.
Special measures have been introduced to maintain religious harmony, manage gatherings and processions effectively, ensure smooth traffic flow and respond quickly to any untoward incident. Authorities have also issued strict instructions for continuous vigilance throughout the period.
The district SSP directed all officers to provide maximum security to participants, closely monitor suspicious individuals and activities, and carry out strict checking at internal and external routes. Snap checking, mobile patrols, search operations and quick response teams have been placed on high alert to deal with emergencies.
Monitoring of social media has also been intensified to prevent the spread of hate content and to curb elements attempting to create sectarian tension. Officials said strict action would be taken against violations of the Loudspeaker Act, wall chalking and any attempt to disturb public peace.
SSP Syed Saleem Shah said that peace, brotherhood and religious tolerance would be ensured at all costs during Muharram-ul-Haram. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found disturbing law and order or taking the law into their own hands in Tando Allahyar district.
