CAIRO: At the invitation of Egypt, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye convened in Cairo on 21 June 2026 for the fourth consultative meeting of the four-country format.
The ministers expressed appreciation to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for presenting his vision of regional stability, which they said had helped guide the group’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and security in the Middle East.
The meeting provided an opportunity for a broad exchange of views on regional and international developments. It reaffirmed the importance of continued consultation and coordination among the four countries in support of peace, stability, security and prosperity across the Middle East and the wider region.
On recent developments, the ministers welcomed the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran on 18 June 2026, describing it as a constructive step towards de-escalation in a conflict that had posed risks to regional security, energy markets, maritime routes and global supply chains.
They commended the efforts of regional and international actors that contributed to facilitating the understanding and stressed the importance of full implementation of the commitments made by the parties involved. The ministers also praised Pakistan’s role in helping to achieve the outcome, alongside support from Qatar, and noted continued coordination with Islamabad on the issue.
Looking ahead, the ministers emphasised the importance of advancing the next phase of negotiations towards a lasting, verifiable and mutually acceptable resolution of outstanding issues. They stressed that such efforts should take into account the concerns of regional countries, particularly those of the Gulf Arab states and the Levant, with a view to strengthening collective security and long-term stability.
