MEHAR: Seventy days passed since the alleged abduction of six-year-old Ujala Parveen Solangi from Manzoor Colony in Mehar, but her whereabouts remained unknown, leaving her family in deep distress as they continued to seek justice and her safe recovery.
The girl’s parents, including her father, government primary school teacher Shamsuddin Solangi, along with her uncle Sardar Solangi, mother, grandmother and other relatives, staged a protest while holding copies of the Holy Quran and appealing to the authorities for immediate action.
Speaking to reporters in tears, the parents said Ujala Parveen Solangi had gone missing on 14 April while returning home from school. They said that despite the passage of 70 days, police had failed to make any significant progress in tracing the child. The family alleged that the investigation team formed to handle the case had shown little activity and claimed local police officials had not responded to their repeated concerns.
They also expressed disappointment over what they described as the silence of the Sindh government, elected representatives and law enforcement authorities. The family said they felt abandoned and questioned why their repeated appeals had not received adequate attention.
The parents said that while people across the country were observing the mourning period of Muharram, their family continued to live in constant grief. They added that the child’s mother had become emotionally devastated and was struggling to cope with the trauma of her daughter’s disappearance.
The family appealed to the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, the Prime Minister, the Federal Interior Minister and the Chief Minister of Sindh to take immediate notice of the case and ensure the child’s safe recovery.
They warned that if Ujala Parveen Solangi was not recovered, they would launch another phase of protests after the 10th of Muharram.
