KARACHI: Police in Karachi’s Korangi district arrested four members of a motorcycle-lifting gang during an intelligence-based operation in Sector 2/34 near Badshah Bazaar Ground, Korangi No. 3, officials said on Monday.
According to police, the operation was carried out by Korangi Police Station after receiving confidential information about the presence of an organised group allegedly involved in motorcycle theft across different parts of the district.
The arrested suspects were identified as Haji Wazir Ahmed, son of Manzoor Ahmed; Majid Hussain, son of Mujahid; Sohail Ahmed, son of Zahid Hussain; and Haider Ali, son of Nazakat Ali.
Police said the suspects were involved in multiple motorcycle theft incidents in Korangi and surrounding areas. During the raid, officers recovered stolen motorcycles, engines, chassis and other parts of dismantled vehicles.
Recovered items included several motorcycles and engine units, among them Unique 70cc engine number DSE-1982417, Union Star motorcycle registration number LAB-3521, Union Star engine number PSO-2446, Honda 125cc engine number T624892, and Unique motorcycle registration number KEO-9152. Officials also recovered a chassis along with an engine and various spare parts believed to be stolen property.
Police further confirmed that one motorcycle had been reported stolen in case number 626/26 registered at Zaman Town Police Station under Section 381-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. Another motorcycle was traced to the jurisdiction of Landhi Police Station, while additional vehicles were linked to theft cases in Zaman Town.
A separate case has been registered at Korangi Police Station under crime number 266/26 under Sections 411 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Investigators said the arrests represented a significant development in efforts to dismantle motorcycle theft networks operating in the East Zone of Karachi. The suspects were handed over to the investigation wing for further interrogation to trace possible accomplices and recover additional stolen property.
Police officials said operations against organised vehicle theft groups would continue across the district as part of ongoing efforts to improve law and order and reduce street crime.
