TEHRAN: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has met his Iranian counterpart in Tehran during an official visit aimed at discussing bilateral relations and wider regional developments.
Naqvi, who is currently on a visit to the Iranian capital Tehran, was received by Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. The two sides held detailed discussions on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
According to Iranian media reports, the meeting also touched on the possible revival of stalled peace dialogue mechanisms and explored pathways for restoring structured engagement between the neighboring countries. Both ministers reviewed a range of issues of mutual interest, including regional security and the evolving geopolitical situation in the wider region.
The talks came at a time when both countries have been navigating complex security and diplomatic challenges along their shared border, alongside broader regional tensions.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni welcomed Pakistan’s engagement and, during the meeting, reportedly praised Islamabad’s constructive role in promoting regional stability. He also acknowledged the efforts of Pakistan’s military leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir, in supporting dialogue and peace-building initiatives in the region.
The discussions underlined a shared interest in maintaining channels of communication and preventing escalation in an already volatile regional environment. Officials described the meeting as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to keep engagement active between the two neighbors, with both sides signaling willingness to continue consultations on security cooperation and regional peace.
