ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said Pakistan remained committed to peace but was equally firm in defending its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national honor against any threat.
In a message posted on X to mark the anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, the prime minister paid tribute to the armed forces and the people of Pakistan for what he described as their courage, resolve and sacrifices during the conflict. He said Pakistan had remained united, disciplined and steadfast in the face of aggression, while praising the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir during the operation.
The prime minister said the operation reflected the professionalism, precision and operational capability of the armed forces in defending the country’s sovereignty and dignity. He added that Field Marshal Munir’s leadership had inspired the nation and strengthened the morale of the armed forces during what he described as a defining moment in Pakistan’s recent history.
Shehbaz Sharif said Marka-e-Haq would remain a symbol of national unity, resilience and collective determination to safeguard Pakistan under all circumstances. He also paid tribute to soldiers, officers, martyrs and veterans for their sacrifices in defence of the country.
Separately, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the services chiefs had extended congratulations to the nation and all ranks of the armed forces on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq.
According to the ISPR statement, the message was issued jointly by Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu.
