DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A senior representative of the Private Education Network in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has called for urgent reforms in the province’s education system, stressing the need to improve learning continuity and raise academic standards.
Sardar Muhammad Arsalan Sadozai, Deputy Provincial General Secretary of the Private Education Network, presented proposals aimed at addressing key challenges in the schooling system.
He said the current schedule of two weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday had significantly reduced teaching days, which he said negatively affected syllabus completion and students’ performance. He urged the government to abolish the Saturday holiday to make educational activity more effective and ensure continuity in learning.
He also pointed out that prolonged summer vacations in plain areas were contributing to academic loss. He recommended limiting summer holidays to two months, from 15 June to 15 August, to ensure better academic engagement and timely completion of courses.
Sadozai further emphasised the need for timely notifications from the Private Schools Regulatory Authority regarding summer camps, saying this would allow institutions to plan in advance and involve students in productive educational activities.
He said summer camps helped improve students’ skills, confidence and participation in co-curricular activities. He added that education policies should be based on ground realities and that timely decisions could significantly improve the quality of education.
He urged the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to seriously consider the proposals and take immediate steps to strengthen and streamline the province’s education system.
