BAKU: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif concluded a visit to Baku, where she held a series of meetings focused on economic cooperation, investment opportunities and subnational collaboration between Punjab and Azerbaijan.
Officials said the visit formed part of Punjab’s broader push to attract foreign investment and promote its development agenda on international platforms. During engagements in the Azerbaijani capital, the chief minister presented what her office described as Punjab’s evolving economic strategy, with an emphasis on infrastructure development, industrial growth, and public-private partnerships.
Discussions also centred on expanding bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan beyond traditional diplomatic ties into more structured economic engagement. Both sides reportedly explored areas of mutual interest including energy, construction, agriculture, and urban development, although detailed agreements were not immediately announced.
In statements shared after the meetings, the Punjab government characterize the visit as part of an effort to strengthen international investor confidence and position the province as an emerging destination for regional and global capital. Officials said the engagements in Baku had helped open additional channels for future dialogue on investment facilitation and development collaboration.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif underscored Punjab’s development priorities during her interactions with Azerbaijani officials and business representatives, highlighting ongoing reforms and planned initiatives aimed at modernizing governance and expanding economic opportunities within the province.
The visit reflects a broader pattern of provincial-level outreach by Pakistani leadership seeking to diversify economic partnerships and attract foreign investment through direct engagement with international counterparts.
