I am writing to draw attention, through your esteemed newspaper, to the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, which increasingly appear to threaten regional stability and broader international peace. The ongoing hostilities have already resulted in significant loss of life, damage to civilian infrastructure, and a deepening sense of insecurity across an already fragile region.
If such developments continue unchecked, the consequences are unlikely to remain confined to the immediate theatre of conflict. Instead, they risk spilling over into wider geopolitical instability, with potential disruptions to global economic systems, energy markets, and international security frameworks.
At a time when diplomatic engagement is urgently required, the prevailing trajectory of confrontation is deeply concerning. History repeatedly demonstrates that prolonged cycles of retaliation rarely produce lasting security; rather, they entrench mistrust and widen the scope of conflict. It is therefore imperative that all concerned parties exercise maximum restraint and return to dialogue channels without delay.
Constructive negotiations, supported by credible international mediation, remain the most viable path toward de-escalation and the prevention of further humanitarian and economic loss. The international community also bears responsibility to encourage diplomacy over confrontation and to support mechanisms that prioritise peacebuilding over escalation.
