KHAIRPUR: Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said the inauguration of two new routes of the Peoples Bus Service marked an important and positive moment for the people of Khairpur.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, he said that under the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur and the Chief Minister of Sindh, the service was being expanded to provide affordable and comfortable transport facilities to citizens.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party had carried out historic development work in every tenure of its government and completed a record number of public welfare projects in villages, talukas and districts across Sindh. He added that despite these achievements, the party continued to face criticism and media trials, while the scale of development in Sindh remained unmatched.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Special Economic Zone in Khairpur was established during the tenure of former chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. He also said the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences, the only hospital in Pakistan offering lung and liver transplant facilities, was a matter of pride for the people of Khairpur.
He said the people of Khairpur were fortunate to have sincere public representatives and noted that they had repeatedly expressed confidence in the Pakistan Peoples Party by electing its candidates. He added that if PPP representatives had not served the public, they would not have achieved electoral success.
The minister said that under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the world’s largest free housing initiative had been launched, under which the Sindh government was providing free homes to 2.2 million families. He added that labour cards for workers and Hari cards for farmers had also been introduced for welfare and financial support.
He said that despite political criticism and propaganda, the Pakistan Peoples Party continued to achieve electoral success, reflecting growing public trust across Sindh.
He added that two new routes of the Peoples Bus Service had been launched in Khairpur, and despite rising global fuel prices, the provincial government was providing modern air-conditioned buses at subsidised fares, even covering part of the passenger cost to ease the burden on commuters. He announced that additional buses would be allocated for Khairpur under the new transport plan, while Pink Bus Service and Pink Scooty Service would soon be introduced to provide safe transport for women.
He said development work on water supply schemes, roads and other infrastructure projects was progressing rapidly across Sindh. Referring to political opponents, he said some parties formed alliances before elections but still faced public rejection.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said every political party had the right to participate in democratic politics, but criticism should remain within the bounds of decency and ethics. He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party enjoyed unmatched public support in Sindh.
He said Pakistan’s youth needed energetic and visionary leadership such as Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who had effectively represented the country at international forums and countered India’s narrative. He added that the world had witnessed the bravery and professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces in defending the country.
He further said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had made Pakistan a nuclear power, Benazir Bhutto had strengthened missile technology, and President Asif Ali Zardari had contributed to strengthening national defence through key agreements. He said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had strongly raised the Kashmir issue at the global level and highlighted the voice of the Kashmiri people internationally.
On the occasion, MNA Syeda Nafisa Shah Jilani, MNA Syed Javed Ali Shah, MPA Halar Khan Wassan, PPP District President Nawab Khan Wassan and Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Altaf Ahmed Chachar also spoke at the ceremony and called the launch of the new bus routes a positive step for public convenience.
