KHAIRPUR: A special screening of the short film TAWAKAL, produced by Shah Abdul Latif University Shah Abdul Latif University alumnus Ashraf Baloch, was held at the university’s Students Society Centre and drew a large gathering of students and faculty members.

The event highlighted creative and cinematic talent emerging from the campus.
The Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr Yousuf Khushk, attended the screening and praised the film for its strong motivational message. He said that despite its short duration, the film touched on almost every aspect of life. Reflecting on the final scene, he said life was extremely brief and even immense wealth ultimately amounted to nothing more than digital numbers.

He observed that wealthy people consumed the same food as everyone else and questioned why people failed to value relationships. He added that status was temporary, attitudes changed with time and circumstances, and recognition based solely on position and money never lasted.
The Vice Chancellor also appreciated that all actors in the film were students or faculty members of SALU and congratulated the entire cast. He encouraged the production of more short films in the future and urged collaboration with media students to motivate them towards careers in filmmaking and storytelling.
Special appreciation was expressed for scriptwriter Amar Iqbal, as well as actors Dr Rubina and Professor Ibrahim Khokhar for their contributions.
On the occasion, Dr Rubina, Amar Iqbal, Ashraf Baloch and Ali Gul Mallah shared insights into the script, production process and the film’s broader social impact, saying TAWAKAL aimed to encourage reflection on deeper life values beyond material pursuits.
Faculty members including Professor Dr Sajjad Raisi, Dr Inayatullah Batti, Dr Ali Raza, Shumaila Rizvi and Dr Sahib Oad, along with a large number of students, attended the event.
