KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet approved the design of a new bridge over the Indus River between Hyderabad and Kotri during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
The decision was taken at a cabinet session where the proposed design for the link between the two cities was formally endorsed. Officials said the project was aimed at easing traffic pressure and improving connectivity across the region.
Murad Ali Shah said the new bridge would serve as a major facility for traffic movement and would help streamline the flow of goods and commuters between key parts of the province. He added that the project would contribute to broader economic activity by reducing congestion and travel time.
In the same meeting, the cabinet approved Rs6.5 billion for the restoration of roads in Karachi. The chief minister directed that repair work should begin without delay and instructed authorities to ensure the immediate release of funds.
He stressed that improving road conditions in Karachi was essential for public convenience and urban mobility. The cabinet reaffirmed its focus on infrastructure development, with an emphasis on timely execution and effective use of resources to address long-standing civic issues.
