KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho had attended a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Sindh Police and OMI Hospital aimed at providing discounted medical facilities to police personnel and their families.
The ceremony had been held at the Central Police Office in Karachi and was attended by the DIG Headquarters, AIG Welfare, Managing Director and CEO of OMI Hospital Kashif Mustafa, along with other officials.
Under the agreement, police officers, personnel and their families had been granted special discounts on outpatient department services, diagnostic tests, medicines and other medical facilities.
The agreement had been signed by AIG Welfare Captain (retd) Haider Raza on behalf of the Sindh Police, while MD and CEO Kashif Mustafa had signed on behalf of OMI Hospital.
According to the agreement, a 50 per cent discount had been provided on OPD consultations and emergency visits. A 20 per cent discount had also been agreed on physiotherapy, laboratory services, MRI, CT scans, X-rays, ultrasound and other radiology tests. In addition, a 10 per cent discount on outpatient pharmacy services and medicines had been included in the deal.
These facilities had been made available to Sindh Police employees, their spouses, children and parents, while it had been made mandatory to present a police service card or relevant documentation as proof to avail the discounts.
It was also noted that police personnel and their families were already receiving treatment facilities at OMI Hospital under health insurance coverage.
The inspector general said that the health, welfare and access to quality medical treatment of the police force remained among the department’s top priorities.
He had said such welfare initiatives would provide relief to personnel and their families and would also improve the morale and performance of the force.
A spokesperson, Syed Saad Ali, issued the statement on behalf of the inspector general of Sindh police.
