KHAIRPUR: Candidates awaiting recruitment and teachers already appointed but unpaid said a key file had remained unsigned for 25 days, leaving thousands in uncertainty and raising concerns over possible interference in the selection process.
In a statement, IBA 40+ PST and JEST waiting candidates, who said they had been waiting for four years and protesting for the past year, joined teachers who had not received salaries for 10 months to demand immediate action.
They said the file of the final revised District Recruitment Committee had been lying on the desk of the Additional Deputy Commissioner-I, Riaz Shaikh, despite covering around 1,300 recruited teachers who had been deprived of salaries and candidates awaiting appointment against vacant posts up to 30 June 2025. They alleged that the delay was due to personal interests and warned that it was putting the futures of thousands at risk.
The group urged the district education officer for secondary education to provide any required documentation sought by the Additional Deputy Commissioner so that the revised process could be completed without further delay.
They said it had been 25 days since the final meeting of the committee in Khairpur, where all members, including the district selection committee chairman, Anees Rehman Memon, and education department officials, had already signed and verified the revised list. The revised document included verification of teachers recruited up to June 2025, scrutiny of alleged fake degrees and disability certificates, and a review of what they described as illegal offer orders issued to low-mark and failed candidates. It also listed eligible waiting candidates against remaining vacancies up to 30 June 2025 so that new offer letters could be issued.
They questioned why the document had been held back, asking whether pressure was being exerted to reinstate candidates with fake credentials or those selected on low merit. They said that if this was not the case, there was no justification for delaying the rights of deserving candidates.
The statement said that teachers appointed on merit continued to go without salaries for 10 months, while waiting candidates had spent four years seeking jobs and nearly a year protesting in the hope of earning in time for Eid.
They demanded that the Additional Deputy Commissioner-I, the deputy commissioner of Khairpur and other authorities sign the final document within two days and issue the notification immediately.
They warned that failure to act would lead to a sit-in outside the deputy commissioner’s office and on the Mehran Highway, for which they said the district administration would be responsible.
They also called on elected representatives, including Adi Nafisa Shah, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Syed Javed Shah, Syed Kazim Shah, Sheeraz Rajper, Nawab Wassan, Hallar Wassan, Naeem Kharal and Adi Mehreen Bhutto, to intervene and ensure merit and justice for affected candidates and teachers.
