KARACHI: A major development has emerged in the investigation linked to the alleged drug network involving a woman known as Anmol alias “Pinky”, as two Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel have been taken into custody in Pakistan.
According to sources, the arrested officials include Assistant Sub-Inspector Kafeel and a constable, both posted in the CTD Civil Lines unit. Investigators say the two personnel were in contact with the accused and are now being questioned as part of a widening probe.
The case, which has already triggered administrative action, saw a district Senior Superintendent of Police earlier suspended on orders issued by the Sindh Home Department.
The investigation is being overseen within the broader framework of law enforcement agencies in Sindh, including Counter Terrorism Department Sindh and Sindh Police, as scrutiny intensifies over alleged internal links to the suspected drug network.
Senior officials have indicated that the inquiry is expanding beyond street-level operatives. Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, has previously stated that several “well-connected names” may emerge as the investigation progresses, adding that organized drug trafficking networks often involve multiple layers of facilitation.
He also noted that the accused woman, Anmol alias Pinky, is believed to have spent considerable time in Lahore, and that a dedicated task force is being formed to pursue further leads. Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information as the investigation develops.
The case has drawn attention within law enforcement circles due to allegations that serving personnel may have been in direct contact with the suspect, raising questions about internal oversight and institutional accountability as the inquiry continues.
