KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit of Karachi’s Crime Investigation Agency has carried out an operation against an alleged drug network, arresting two suspected suppliers of hashish from the Korangi Industrial Area during a targeted raid on 13 May.
According to officials, the operation was conducted on the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police SIU Dr Samiullah Soomro, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle narcotics distribution networks operating within the city.
Police said a significant quantity of drugs was recovered during the raid, with the seized hashish weighing 1,750 grams. The arrested suspects were identified as Naveed, son of Jalal, and Mohammad Naveed, son of Mohammad Akram.
Authorities said investigations were under way to trace the suspects’ prior criminal records and determine possible links to wider supply chains operating in Karachi’s industrial zones.
Officials added that cases had been registered against both individuals at the SIU police station, while further legal proceedings and interrogation were continuing. A spokesperson for the unit said the operation was part of sustained action against drug trafficking networks, particularly in sensitive commercial and industrial areas of Karachi.
Law enforcement agencies have intensified such targeted operations in recent weeks as part of a broader crackdown on narcotics smuggling and street-level distribution networks across the city.
